Say It Ain't Snow!

OK, this snow is getting redonkulous! We got at least 15 inches over the last two days. The kids' daycare was closed and Daddy stayed home to telecommute today. That is, when he wasn't shoveling us out. See how butch he is with the shovel:

Henry is the most sensible of all of us. Here's how he spent his snow day -- happily sleeping:

Today is also the one-year anniversary of my layoff from my job. I can't believe I have been out of work so long. How do I feel about it? Well, it sucks. That's about all there is to say at this point. Just wish our family luck for the coming year!

Rollin' Along

Our family is adjusting to another new routine, as I've started another temp job -- this one just part time. I'm still looking for full-time work but am getting by with temp work wherever I can get it. Anyway, the job requires some work on Saturdays, so this weekend Molly got to spend a whole day with Grandma and Grandpa while I was at work and her Daddy was taking care of the baby by himself. Grandma had a great day planned, full of cookie making, watercolor painting, Play-Doh mushing, and much more. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

In other developments, Henry has learned to roll over! We hope that sitting up will be coming up quickly, since it will mean more independence for him and hopefully for us. The little dude likes to be held all the time!

Birthday: The Sequel

This weekend Molly got to celebrate her birthday again, this time with Grandma and Grandpa and her aunt and uncle. Grandma threw her a luncheon party, where we all enjoyed a delicious lunch and scrumptious cake flavored with cardamom and topped with pink sprinkles.

Molly got some really fun and thoughtful gifts, including a membership to the local zoo, an adorable ducky raincoat, and an aquarium with three little fishies! It was a fun time for all of us, although Henry did sleep through the whole thing.

Snow Day!

Because of the big snowstorm today, we all had a snow day! Daycare was closed, as was the office. We all stayed home and tried to come up with activities to keep everyone occupied. I did a lot of laundry, and Molly painted us many watercolors. After lunch, Molly and I baked peanut butter cookies. Molly also spent the day in her dress-up clothes. She rode around on her new cow wheely scooter (a gift from Grandma and Grandpa T.) She also, of course, watched a lot of Dora. Daddy had to work from home, and had to shovel the driveway more than once. We got a lot of snow! Overall it was a fun day to spend together as a family. I love my beautiful babies!

Birthday Bash!

This weekend we hosted Molly's 3rd birthday party. We had six 3-year-old girls at the house (including Molly), plus their parents. It was a full house, but it all turned out surprisingly well and felt low-key. We made dyed macaroni necklaces, ate pizza, and had cake. Molly likes dogs, so I decorated her cake with a drawing of the dog Blue from "Blue's Clues," which turned out quite nicely. All in all, it was a really fun afternoon.

Molly continues to be an attentive and sweet big sister. Here she is showing Henry some affection:

Finally, here's Henry contemplating an eerily similar being:

Super Fun Kid Play Day!

Grandma and Grandpa H. treated Molly to a super fun trip to the nearby kids' museum this past weekend. Perhaps it is less a museum and more a play place, since Molly got the chance to play with trains, make sand art, play with a fire truck and a front loader and a helicopter, and more. And she didn't even get to the ballet room, or TV studio, or many of the other fun exhibits they had. She and Grandpa even tried out playing some drums with a Wii-type device. Here are some photos from a really fun day! Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa!
