It was a very hot weekend here, so we got to use our newly handed-down wading pool. Molly looked super cute in her bathing suit, and her swim diaper got so waterlogged that it gave her an enormous booty. Very fun for all involved. I even shot a short video. At the end she's telling her daddy to look at the camera. She says "Daddy, cheese!" Because that's what you say when there's a camera pointed at you!

Easter -- One Week Later
Our Easter celebration lasted a week. On Easter weekend we dyed eggs and enjoyed a nice Easter basket. But one week later we had the real party - an Easter egg hunt with some of Molly's little friends. Hosted by some friends in the neighborhood, the girls enjoyed hunting for eggs, blowing bubbles, and playing on swings. Molly was a bit slow at first, not sure what she was supposed to do, but finally she got the hang of it and got several eggs in the basket.

First Dentist Visit
Molly had her very first dentist appointment this week. What is a dentist appointment like for a 2 year old? Very brief. Even though Molly has all 20 of her teeth, she's still too young for most of the typical dental cleansing activities. The hygienist simply brushed her teeth with a regular toothbrush, and the dentist examined her mouth and gave us the thumbs up. She's due for the next appointment in 6 months.
Here's a shot of Molly with her new toothbrush. She's showing off how she opened up wide for the dentist.

"Me Dood It"
"Me Dood It" - translation: I can do it. Or really, I can do it and if you try to touch me or help me in anyway I will scream and fight you every step of the way. This is Molly's most frequent refrain these days. She wants to do everything herself. This includes putting on her clothes, diapering herself, and buckling her carseat. Needless to say, she cannot actually do all these things herself, especially the diapering! Of course, it's all part of her growing independence, which is good and proper, but jeez - what a pain in the neck it can be when we're trying to get something accomplished.
I must apologize generally for the long time between posts. One would think that being unemployed would give me lots of free time to update this blog. Which it does, but the reality is that 1) I'm still quite blue about losing my job and am having trouble staying motivated and focused on any task and 2) Molly and I are having a very antagonistic relationship right now. She's being a challenge all around, but has especially decided to fight me. She refuses to let me change her diaper or brush her teeth or help her with anything, then she will turn around and sweetly let her Daddy accomplish those tasks with her. Sigh. I'm on the outs.
Of course, there's nothing stopping Daddy from updating this blog as well. Ahem...
