Bigger Than Ever!

Molly had her 2-year-old checkup at the pediatrician today. We are pleased that she is in perfectly wonderful health! No illnesses, ear infections, third eyes, or anything at all to worry about!

She's gained some percentage points in her weight. She's now 24 pounds (or 20th percentile) and 33.5 inches tall (40th percentile). Given that she used to float around under the 10th percentile, we're very pleased with her gains!

Next up: Molly's first dentist appointment.

Happy Valentine's Day!

We've had a great Valentine weekend so far. Molly's class at daycare had a Valentine party on Friday - Molly had lots of cards from her classmates when she came home, and also had these fabulous glasses to clown around with. Molly sends her Valentine love to all her grandparents and aunts and uncles!

We also had a fun time this afternoon playing in Molly's room. We decided to break out some of her summer dresses and have a fun dress up session. We also found this (now a bit too small) butterfly/fairy costume. Dress up time got a little more fun with this cute outfit!

Last but not least, a funny Molly story: In the bath the other night, she was playing with her bath toys: several rubber duckies, Elmo, Cookie Monster, etc. She began to pick them all up and sniff their butts. At first I couldn't figure out what she was doing, but then caught on: She was checking their diapers! She began saying "Poop? Nooooo" while sniffing each one in turn. Guess she's used to us (and her daycare teachers) checking for dirty diapers that way!

Molly Turns 2!

We had a birthday party this weekend for our little critter - we cannot believe she's turning 2. We had lots of fun with two of Molly's little friends and lots of our grownup friends. We enjoyed pigs in a blanket, spanikopita, cheese and crackers, and of course, cake!

Every day we marvel at how our little girl has grown and changed in these last two years. She surprises us every day with everything she is learning. The best thing she's learned recently? To say "I love you."

This is the cake I made - Molly likes ducks!

Molly and her friends got very excited all lined up on the stairs. They started jumping and bouncing around like popcorn, and all the grownups pulled out our cameras.

Making Friends

We are all looking forward to Molly's birthday party this weekend. We're having a few grown-up friends over, as well as two of Molly's friends from her Saturday music class. We'll see how we do with so many people in our small little house.

Molly has recently been repeating the names of some of the other kids at daycare - she's finally learning that there are other kids in the world! We hear her say "Carson, Madison, Nicky, Riley..." over and over. She can't yet tell us much about them - the most we get is "Nicky tickle." Although none of the kids from daycare are coming to the birthday party, we hope she'll find a few good friends among the kids there as time goes by.

Another name she has just learned is "Obama!" We're thrilled that our 44th president has such an easy name for toddlers to pronounce. I certainly hope she grows up to be an engaged and educated voter. One of my happy memories is going with my parents to the voting booth on Election Day. I can't wait to take Molly with me one day.
