Doing "Cute"

Daddy has taught Molly a new little phrase. Well, she can't say it, but she knows what it means. She started doing this little cute expression where she cocks her head to the side and scrunches up her shoulders and smiles really big. We call it her "cute face." Now, whenever Daddy says to her, "Molly, do 'cute'" she'll perform this little trick on demand. Here's a shot of Daddy and daughter together, doing "cute."

Memorable Memorial Day Weekend

We had a really lovely long weekend with the kiddo. We picked up a new (used) changing table for her off of Craigslist, so that was a little adventure on Saturday. It's quite a bit larger than her old one, so we're getting used to a new set-up for diaper changes.

On Sunday we took her into the city for her first trip to the Big Apple. We met up with cousins at the Natural History Museum, where Molly and Aidan got to see dioramas, dinosaur bones, and a ginormous Blue whale. They also got to perch on this giant clam shell:

On Sunday we had a terrific BBQ over at our new friends Bryce and Shannon's house. The food was delicious and the company was great. Their little girl, just a few months older than Molly, is just a doll. Here she is giving Molly a hug:

Molly also enjoyed riding the awesome Kawasaki motorbike. I think she wants to move in with them:

The weather was just great all weekend. It really couldn't have been a nicer little vacation!

Where's My Sock?

In this photo, she's dressed like an old man in Florida. Golfing, anyone?

BBQ at Robin and Greg's House

We had a lovely BBQ this weekend at Robin, Greg, and Josh's house. We met Robin and Greg at the parenting classes at the hospital, and our kids were born just days apart. Molly and Josh, I'm afraid, didn't play well together. Molly is quite the bully - we think it's a "kill or be killed" mentality that she picked up at daycare. She didn't want to share toys with Josh, and they were Josh's toys!

Here she is very proudly riding his trike:

And.... action shot!

Another Post About Shoes

I guess the whole "girls and their shoes" dynamic starts young. I am delighted that I just won an online contest, this one from A Girl's Gotta Spa blog. I won a gift certificate to Skimbaco, where I used it to purchase the adorable shoes shown above. Despite this blog's name, I actually call the kiddo "Ladybug" more often than I call her "Mollywoggin," at least these days, so I couldn't resist these sneakers! Thanks to Shannon for the giveaway. Can't wait to put 'em on my little Ladybug.

Mother's Day 2008

Daddy treated us Mommies (me and his own mother - Grandma H.) to a wonderful day trip to Lambertville, a cute little town along the Delaware River. We had a yummy lunch and a fun stroll around town, and across the river in New Hope, Pa.

Molly was a dream - very curious and interested in all the new sights. As usual, I snapped some cute photos of her and Daddy. All the photos are of them because I'm the one behind the camera.

Thanks for a wonderful Mother's Day. Without my husband and baby, I obviously wouldn't be a mom, but more than that, they define my whole life. I'm nothing without them! I love you guys.

Trip to DC

Whew! We just got back from a weekend trip to DC. With our apartment for sale, we decided it would be best to get out of town for the first weekend of showings. While we sadly only got to see Grandma and Grandpa T. very briefly before they left on vacation, we did pack a lot of other fun into the trip.

Friday we went to the National Zoo. There we saw:

and

and many other creatures great and small.

Molly is a bit too young to really take it all in and know what she is seeing, but we think she still enjoyed herself. Here's a nice shot of Daddy and daughter viewing the elephant:

And of course, the best evidence of a day well spent? An exhausted kiddo:

On Saturday we went to the Annual Flower Mart at the National Cathedral. There Molly took her first Merry-Go-Round ride!

She also won a prize in the duck pond:

Another great accomplishment of the weekend was her improved walking skills. She walked the whole length of the Cathedral's main hall (holding onto Mommy and Daddy's hands). What a trooper!

Molly's New Kicks!

As befits our newly-minted walker, we got the kiddo her first real pair of shoes, with real soles and everything. I think these shoes are hilarious and feel that they should let grown-ups wear such outrageous and colorful shoes as well without fear of mockery. Why should kids get all the fun?
