House Hunting

Not much of a Mollywoggin post today, but I want to keep my readers happy, all 4 of you. The family is on the house hunt. We will be listing our apartment for sale officially this week, with the first weekend of showing scheduled for next weekend. Once we get (and accept) an offer, then the race is on for us to find a place to move our wee family to. We've already seen some places that we like, but we aren't in a position to do anything yet until we know we are getting some dough for our current abode. It's all very stressful, but Molly has been a champ through it all so far - going on trips with us, meeting with the realtor, etc. She's a pretty good kid, if I do say so myself.

Molly's Steppin' Out!

Milestone Alert: Molly took her first solo steps this weekend. She started on Friday, April 11. If we place her a few feet away from us and scoot back, she will take a few steps toward our welcoming arms before collapsing into us! It may not sound like much, but it's very exciting for us. Her record is 6 or 8 steps before losing her balance. We're so thrilled with our little walker!

The Pox!

This is just a random photo. It's not even that recent - it's from about a month ago. But this is what happens when you try to feed her oatmeal (with some flax seed mixed in). She looks like she has the pox!

Health Update

The Wogger has been suffering from, er, intestinal distress for going on two months now. For the first five weeks or so, it was constant and very unpleasant, causing severe diaper rash and blisters. We took her to a pediatric GI doctor, who ran a bunch of tests. I met with him again on Friday to discuss the results. Really, a phone call would have been better, because I had to pay my $30 co-pay to have him tell me the tests were all negative. So we've ruled out various poop infections, and I think we've ruled out celiac disease (thank god! Though I've heard the tests for that aren't that reliable in young children, and she'd been off of wheat and gluten for basically a month before the test, so that could have affected it. But I'm hopeful that we're probably safe on that one.)

So, I guess we know what it's NOT. As for what it IS, well, the GI doc is chalking it up to "toddler's diarrhea," a catch-all diagnosis when nothing else seems to be causing it. I guess that's it, though some of the reasons for it don't really seem to match our situation. She doesn't drink any juice and her soy milk has less sugar than regular cow's milk, so I don't think excess sugar intake is the problem. And as for the kinds of foods that should help clear it up (beans, cereal, etc.) those are things she's been eating all along. Oh well. She's been improving in the last few weeks, with variable poops, changing throughout the day. The GI said toddler's diarrhea can last for a while, so we could still be dealing with it a year from now. Wonderful.

We've also gotten her weighed and measured: 18 lbs, 5 oz. and 28 3/4 inches tall. She's very small - 5% or so - but overall, she seems pretty healthy and happy. So that's the important thing.
